LEVEL 1 "Trust" Learn how to discern equine body language, individual horse personalities and safe ways to approach horses. Learn how to handle, groom and lead a horse. Learn equipment, tack, nutrition and equine jargon Learn basic barn chores Level 1 gives students an introduction to basic horsemanship principles on the ground (no riding is done). Sessions are 90 minutes for groups of 1-3 participants. Longer, customized workshops can be designed for larger groups.
LEVEL 2 "Respect" Learn ways to gain horse's respect Learn how to feed Learn how to walk figure 8s and trot poles Learn how to work a horse on the ground Learn basic medication and aid Learn how to trot a figure 8 and trot poles Level 2 includes stewardship (vet, farrier care), barn skills, equipment ad learn different disciplines.
LEVEL 3 "Discipline" Learn how to get a horse out from pasture Learn advanced horsemanship Learn to canter Level 3 possible opportunities to attend horse events (schooling show or clinic). Course consists of one 90 minute session per week for four weeks.
LEVEL 4 "Dedication" This program is for students who have demonstrated a serious commitment to horsemanship. They will do barn and horse work in exchange for learning opportunities with the our teachers and other horse industry professionals. Understanding the nature of the horse, ways to you can help the horse. Practical skill development is emphasized in multiple subject areas (horse handling, show grooming, horse care, ground training and so on). The duties revolve around the care of the horses onsite and the development of their potential.
